Kenwood also introduces the NEXEDGE NX-200/300 and P25 TK-5220/5320 radios with an Immersion option, ideal for HAZMAT and SAR teams, beach events faced by harbor patrols, including hurricanes and flooding. The IP67 Immersion option is in addition to the eleven MILSPEC categories these hard working portables already meet, including driven rain and IP54/55 standards for prevention of water and dust access into the radio’s casing. This new option, the “W-model”, means that these portables can tolerate being immersed in one meter of water (3 feet) for 30 minutes. That makes these radios ideal for standard operations for waterway patrols or in times of intense weather incidents such as hurricanes and severely inclement weather.
